FLEECE SHIELD · MESH BREATH PANEL

The OXYFIT™ Thermal Face Guard covers what a neck gaiter misses: your ears. Soft fleece wraps your nose, cheeks and ears, a mesh panel over your mouth lets your breath out, and hook-and-loop holds it in place on the lift, on the run and on the bike.

Face guard vs neck gaiter

Why not just a gaiter?

A gaiter is a tube of fabric. The Face Guard is cut for your face.

What it does. What it doesn't.

It does

  • Covers your nose, mouth, cheeks and ears
  • Gives your breath a way out through the mesh
  • Adjusts with hook-and-loop, one size
  • Folds into a jacket pocket when you take it off

It doesn't

  • Cover your head. Add a beanie, or wear it under a helmet.
  • Filter the air. It keeps your face warm and does nothing for dust or smoke.
  • Stay dry on long efforts. Breath moisture builds up in any face cover. Pull it down on the climbs to let it air out.
  • Stop all glasses fog. A snug top edge on your nose sends more breath down through the mesh.

FAQ

Can I breathe hard in it?

Yes. The mesh panel sits right over your mouth, so your breath has a way out on climbs and intervals. If you run hot, pull it down under your chin until the next descent.

Will my glasses fog?

They can, as with any face cover. Seat the top edge snug across the bridge of your nose so more breath goes out through the mesh instead of up. An anti-fog wipe on the lenses helps on the coldest days.

Will it get wet from my breath?

On a long cold effort, any face cover picks up moisture from your breath, and this one will too. The mesh panel over your mouth lets breath out instead of trapping it in the fleece. If it gets damp, pull it down under your chin for a few minutes on the next climb.

Does it fit under a helmet?

Yes. It is one layer of fleece with flat side panels, so it sits under a bike, ski or snowboard helmet.

What size is it?

One size for women and men. Laid flat it measures 50 × 15 cm (19.7 × 5.9 in), and the hook-and-loop closure sets the fit around your head.

How is it different from a neck gaiter?

A gaiter is a tube of fabric. The Face Guard is cut for your face: it covers your ears, puts mesh over your mouth and closes with hook-and-loop, so it stays where you set it.

How do I wash it?

Hand wash in cold water and let it air dry.

How long does shipping take?

Orders ship in 1–5 business days. US delivery takes 4–13 days, and international orders take about 4–17 days. Shipping is free on orders over $75.
